Chinese Importer: Selection of the Supplier

A good Chinese importer takes into consideration the needs of any client that approaches them and offers a selection of manufacturers/suppliers.  After all, each client is individual as are their products and there is really no 'one size fits all' approach to importation.  However, as good a 'fit' as possible should be sought when seeking a Chinese importer and there are several areas that a good Chinese importer considers when choosing a manufacturer/supplier for a client.

  1. Requirements overseen thoroughly by the Chinese importer and then qualified manufacturers/suppliers are identified.
  2. Details of the order are then sent to the manufacturers/suppliers that are identified.
  3. Invitations to quote are solicited from a selected few of those invited.
  4. Experience in the target market and its country is handled thoroughly by a good Chinese importer.
  5. The BEST Chinese importers will actually make a visit to manufacturing facilities to ensure that the manufacturing process and quality control systems are the highest.  Reports will be written and maintained by quality Chinese importers and return visits carried out routinely by a local team.
  6. Quotations on actual supply costs are then sent to the client which include manufacturing costs, fees based upon chosen supplier costs, branding if necessary, any artwork and presentation if necessary, costs of all duty and import duties as well as costs of haulage and freight. 
  7. After all of the above, estimated times of delivery are furnished by the Chinese importer, with some leeway given for any small delays that should occur due to circumstances that are uncontrollable (weather, technology, manufacturing breakdowns, etc.)

 

Importation companies that have a long history of successful importation can lead clients through this process swiftly and flawlessly.  Cleints that seek importation are best served by a successful importer with experience because it's not a process with which most are familiar naturally.  Doing things oneself can lead to a frustrating experience and is almost impossible if you don't' speak Chinese.  Firsthand knowledge of manufacturers and suppliers, the local language and of course, the requirements of freight and handling lead to more successful importation.
